Homework

At Lumley Primary Federation we have a strong commitment to parental involvement and see homework as one way of developing this partnership. Homework is designed to consolidate or extend pupils’ learning in school and we aim to make it as enjoyable for both parents and pupils.

Why Give Homework?

  • Key skills in English and Mathematics can be rehearsed and practised at home.
  • It informs parents about the learning that takes place in their child’s class and provides information on how to best support the development of key skills.
  • Through enquiry-based activities, homework can nurture a ‘love of learning’, stimulating enthusiasm and curiosity for current themes and topics within mathematics.
  • It consolidates learning at school and supports children in becoming proficient at key skills
